Tahoe's East Shore Drive

Good to know before you go

• Zephyr Cove–Round Hill Village, Nevada

  The resort beach has its own lot down on the water, but it's a popular one; on warm weekends it can fill by late morning, so earlier is easier.

• Lake Tahoe–Nevada State Park

  Sand Harbor's lot is the East Shore's hottest ticket and fills to capacity early on summer weekends, so roll in early or plan a backup beach.

• Spooner Summit

  A small trailhead lot sits right at the summit where the Tahoe Rim Trail crosses, handy for a leg-stretch with a view, though it's modest and popular.

• Whale Beach (Nevada)

  There's no lot of its own, just a handful of dirt pullouts along the highway shoulder that fill fast on warm weekends. Park fully off the traffic lane, or don't park at all.

• Chimney Beach

  The Forest Service trailhead lot sits right on the highway at the state park's south edge. It's the only sanctioned place to leave the car here, it's free, and on summer middays it fills, so come early or roll on.

• Ponderosa Ranch

  If Bonanza was your Sunday ritual, treat this as a quiet tip of the hat. Slow down, picture the ranch set on the slope, then let the lake pull you onward.

• Incline Village, Nevada

  This is the north shore's service hub, so top off on fuel, coffee, and groceries here before the road climbs on toward Crystal Bay and the California line.

• Incline Village

  Incline Village has ordinary town parking, public lots and street spaces, so you're not fighting for a trailhead spot anymore. Read the signs, feed any meters, and go find the water.
